Shift: Monday to Friday; 7:00 am – 4:00 pm

About this role…

The Financial Accountant will be a key role in the preparation of financial and management reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Month end reporting: Preparation of month end work files, journals and reconciliations
  • Financial reporting: Assist the Group Financial Controller in the preparation of annual financial statements and engaging with the audit team in a timely manner
  • Management reporting: Preparation of monthly management reports; supporting the Group Financial Controller with the coordination, production and distribution of Board reports on a timely basis, prepare accurate and insightful budget and reforecasting models and provide ad-hoc support and analysis to internal stakeholders as required;
  • Tax compliance: prepare and manage compliance with statutory taxation obligations, including liaison with professional advisers to facilitate the lodgement of corporate tax returns and the preparation and submission of BAS, FBT and payroll tax returns
  • Improve systems and processes: with the support of the finance team, work to identify opportunities for efficiencies within the team, by better utilisation of our existing software
  • Improve controls: with the support of the finance team, work to maintain a best practice control environment to minimise risks to the business
  • Coaching and development: mentor, coach and grow capability and skills of the assistant accountant
  • Interpersonal relationships: build and maintain effective interpersonal relationships internally and externally to enable seamless execution in relation to various tasks

  • Work safely in accordance with codes of practice and WHS Acts and relevant legislation
  • Conduct all duties in accordance with the business Environmental policies, procedures and obligations

Qualifications / Skills:

We are looking for an A-star individual, passionate and competent with what they do and bringing the WOW with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Has at least 3 – 4 years of experience in financial reporting and tax compliance
  • Preferably with experience within an Australian Firm (e.g., corporate tax returns, BAS, FBT, payroll tax returns)
  • Experience in preparing accurate and insightful budget and reforecasting models
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching staff members or junior accountants
